PocketCents is a pay per click company, which is based out of Washington, Michigan. In January 2011, they completed 150 million local (pay per click )ads, which are a substantial amount of ad serving thus pushing the company into the forefront of PPC companies.
PocketCents stands out with its fixed cost per click (CPC) whereas all other pay per click companies are bid-based. PocketCents charge 25 cents per click from advertisers and pay 15 cents to publishers. For small advertisers, this means they do not have to be concerned about big players bidding for the same ad space and increasing the price up. Furthermore, since the ads are more location based, the advertiser is likely to have competition from his peers in his same area. However most of the time there would not be sufficient ads to display because of the low advertiser base and there would just be the Pocket Cents banner which would not earn you anything. We decided to go with Adbrite as Adbrite would be always having some ads to display even if they have a low CPC.
Joining with PocketCents
Joining with PocketCents is an easy process as publishers and advertisers from all countries are accepted and there are no restrictions as to the minimum impressions of site. You don’t need to send the signed W9 or W8BEN tax forms as part of registration. The approval is very fast in most cases.
controls and ad formats are not good enough for most publishers and they do not have as many formats as adsense or Bidvertiser. They have not mentioned the sizes of the formats, but have named them as Wide Skyscraper, Leaderboard, Rectangle, Medium Rectangle, Half Page Ad, PocketCentsmobile.
Pocket cents had always problem with reports. We had two of our sites showing Pocket Cents ads and suddenly their website losed three months of reports and for that many months we were not paid. When contacted multiple times, there was no reply. This happened on two instances and we decided to stop showing Pocket cents ads. The report is very simple as there is no eCPM and CPC factor needed to compute. When you click on the details column, it would show you the number of views and clicks per day. The edit column allows you to edit the format of ads.
PocketCents is an upcoming pay per click company. Whenever PocketCents was contacted through an e-mail, their response was not quick.
Their minimum payout is 10$ by paypal. If you are in USA, Canada and many European countries, they do have the check payment .
Like many PPC companies, Pocket cents allow referral and pays you 10% commission for each business that signs up. The referrers are called as agents.. The nice thing is that commision will be paid for the entire lifespan of the signed up account. However as of now, there is no tracking mechanism.
The notable thing about pocket cents is their fixed PPC rates which we do not see in many big competitors who are mostly bid-based pay per click companies. Their advertiser base is very small and you will not see any ads on your site most of the times. They lacked very much in the ad sizes, formats, aesthetics of ad format and the incomplete Pocket Cents website with many pages which has been under construction for so long. Finally we decided not to go with Pocket Cents when we were denied payment due to missing reports on their website.
